| Expression of CEACAM1protein in bladder cancer and its correlationwith clinicopathologic features and prognosisObjective:The purpose of our experiments is to evaluate CEACAM1expression in bladder cancer and to analyze the relations between CEACAM1and tumor clinicopathologic features and prognosis. Methods:we detected the expression of CEACAM1in45cases of bladder cancer and13cases of normal bladder tissue by immunohistochemical SP method. Analysis:(1)The expression levels and differences of CEACAM1in bladder cancer and adjacent normal bladder tissue.(2) The relationship between the CEACAM1expression and tumor clinicopathologic features.(3) The relationship between CEACAM1expression and patient prognosis.Results:1. The expression of CEACAM1in bladder cancer and adjacent normal bladder tissue by immunohistochemistry.In45cases of bladder cancer, the rate of CEACAM1positive expression was37.78%(17/45). In13cases of adjacent normal bladder tissue, the rate of CEACAM1positive expression was84.62%(11/13).The expression was significantly different between the two groups (P<0.01).2. The relationship between CEACAM1expression and the clinicopathologic features of bladder cancer. The positive rate of CEACAM1expression in low-grade group and high-grade group bladder cancer was54.17%(13/24) and19.05%(4/21) respectively, The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The positive rate of CEACAM1expression in non-muscle invasive group and muscle invasive group bladder cancer was51.85%(14/27)和16.67%(3/18) respectively. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The positive rate of CEACAM1expression in tumors diameter≤3cm group and tumors diameter>3cm group bladder cancer was57.69%(15/26) and10.53%(2/19) respectively. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Statistics show that CEACAM1expression in bladder cancer is not correlated with patients gender and age and tumor maiden or recurrence.3. The relationship between CEACAM1expression and the cumulative disease-free survival rate of bladder cancer. In bladder cancer postoperative patients followed up for6-42months, the cumulative disease-free survival rate of CEACAMl-positive group and CEACAM1-negative group are57.14%(16/28) and88.24%(15/17) respectively. Kaplan-Meier analysis and the log-rank test showed that the cumulative disease-free survival rate was statistically different between the CEACAM1-positive group and the CEACAM1-negative group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. The positive rate of CEACAM1expression in bladder is lower than it in the adjacent normal bladder tissue, suggesting that the low expression of CEACAM1may be correlated with the occurrence of bladder cancer. It may be important for the early diagnosis of bladder cancer.2. CEACAM1in the high stage and high grade bladder cancer was lowly expressed. It may be used as an index of grade, stage of bladder cancer. CEACAM1expression in bladder cancer is not correlated with gender, age and tumor maiden or recurrence, and was negative correlated with tumor size.3. In bladder cancer postoperative patients followed up for6-42months, the cumulative disease-free survival rate of CEACAM1-positive group is higher than of CEACAM1-negative group.CEACAM1may be one of the useful indexes of bladder cancer prognosis. |
