objective:Established the immunosuppressive animal model with cyclophosphamide, and determined the thymus and spleen indices, the phagocytic function of macrophages, T lymphocyte proliferation, the activity of NK cells, the number of T/B lymphocyte subsets, serum hemolysin and IL-1β\IL-4、 IFN-y level,to compare the immune function of the same compound using Radix Astragali(RA) and using Radix Hedysari(RH) in immunosuppressive mice. And then to explore the substitutability of RA and RH in the same compound in improving immune function in mice.Methods:The sixty normal Kunming mice were randomized into six groups with10in each, i.e. the normal group, the model group, YiqiYangxue decoction containing RA group、 YiqiYangxue decoction containing RH group、 BuzhongYiqi decoction containing RA group*BuzhongYiqi decoction containing RH group. In addition to the normal group, all the mice of other groups were injected peritoneally with cyclophosphamide for7days to establish immunosuppressive model.YiqiYangxue decoction containing RA and RH groups were given YiqiYangxue decoction containing RA and RH6g/kg/d respectively, BuzhongYiqi decoction containing RA and RH groups were given BuzhongYiqi decoction containing RA and RH4g/kg/d respectively, while the control group and model group were given normal saline of equal volume.The thymus and spleen weights were measured to calculate the thymus and spleen indices, the phagocytic function of macrophages, T lymphocyte proliferation, the activity ofNK cells, CD3+, CD4+、 CD8+T lymphocyte counts and CD19B lymphocyte counts, serum hemolysin and IL-1β\IL-4、IFN-γ levels were determined of all the above-mentioned indexes.Results:Comparing with the model group, YiqiYangxue decoction and BuzhongYiqi decoction whether using RA or RH were found increasing all the above-mentioned indexes.In spleen indices,T lymphocyte proliferation and CD3+T lymphocyte counts, the two compounds using RH were stronger than using RA(P<0.05), in serum IFN-y levels, YiqiYangxue decoction using RH were also stronger than using RA(P<0.05).The other immune indices of the two compounds whether using RA or RH were not statistically different (P>0.05).Conclusion:In improving immune function,YiqiYangxue decoction and BuzhongYiqi decoction using RH and using RA are similar.Among them, in the cellular immune function, the two compounds using RH were stronger than using RA.
