The large genus Gentiana belongs to the familiy compositae and consists of about400species, there are about247species in China,about70species have been used asChinese traditional herbal medicines for the treatment of hepatitis: reducing fever andeliminating dampness,release irasscibility,faucitis,phthisis,ect.Modern pharmacologicalresearch indicated that they have obvious effects on anti-bacterial, anti-tumor. Plants ofthis genus contain a variety of Triterpenoids, Iridoids, Flavonoids, Xanthone and so on.The chemical consitituents and bioactivities of Gentiana algida Pall has not beenexamined so far.This thesis deal with investigation on the chemical consitituents and somebioactivities of the whole plants of Gentiana algida Pall.32compounds were isolatedfrom the ethol extract of Gentiana algida Pall, their structures of these compounds wereelucidated by modern spectroscopic methods including NMR spectrometer and highresolution mass spectrometry(MS), IR etc. and by comparing their NMR data with thoseof corresponding compounds in the literature. Their structures were elucidated as: oleicacid(1),linoleic acid(2),octocosoic acid(3),β-sitosterol(4),2,3-dihydroxyl benzoic acidethyl ester(5), phyhalic acid bustyl isobutyl ester(6), pseudotaraxasterol(7),pseudotaraxasterol-3-O-palmitate(8),oleanolic acid(9),24-hydroxyl-β-amyrin(10),28-hydroxyl-α-amyrin(11),28-hydroxyl-β-amyrin(12),α-amyrin(13),β-amyrin(14),3β-palmitate-28-hydroxyl-α-amyrin(15),3β-palmitate-28-hydroxyl-β-amyrin(16),filicene(17), Arborinone(18), Boehmerol(19),(2S,3S,4R)-2-[(2R)-2-hydroxyheneicosanoylamino]-1,3,4-cheneicosanetriol(20),(2S,3S,4R)-2-tetracosanoylamino-1,3,4-octadecanetriol(21),ursolic acid(22),daucosterol(23),3-hydroxy-28-al-12-ene-urs(24),3-acetoxy-28-hydroxy-12-ene-urs(25), Methyl3-epimaslinate(26),Methyl2α,3α-dihydroxyurs-12-ene-28-oate (27),patulitrin(28),5,8-dimethoxy-furan coumarin(29),Isoscoparin(30),swertisin(31),swertiajaponin(32).All these compounds were isolated from Gentiana algida Pall. for the first time. Theantibacterial activity of Petroleum ether extract,EtOAc extract,n-BuOH extract were examined by Oxford cup method. The results showed that these extracts have obviousantibacterial activity on5bacterias(E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacilluslicheniformis,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Streptococcus pneumoniae).The phytochemical investigation of Gentiana algida Pall. has been studied for thefirst time, which are useful to exploiting and utilizing bioactive compounds of naturalplants, and this paper give phytochemical proofs to chemotaxonomy.
