Object To observe the clinical efficacy of The Gastrodia Tong-nao decoction in treating acute cerebral infarction with symptom of Phlegm and Blood Stasis. Method220cases of acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into treatment group(110cases)and control group (110cases), on the basis of conventional therapy, the treatment group was administrated the Gastrodia Tong-nao decoction. Both groups were evaluated by the Chinese clinical efficacy, NIHSS score, Barthel Index, Modified Rankin Scale score and ADL at Od,7d,14d, and21d.Results There were no significant (P>0.05) in sexuality, age, time of onset and the severity of disease. There were significant differences (P<0.05) between treatment group (95.4%) and control group (80.9%). The NIHSS score, Modified Rankin Scale score in two groups were significantly lower than that before treatment, while Barthel index, ADL was significantly higher than that before treatment at14d and21d (P<0.05). Furthermore, the efficacy was more obviously in treatment group at21d (P<0.05).Conclusions The Gastrodia Tong-nao decoction could improve clinical efficacy significantly better than that of western medicine, and improve quality of life in acute cerebral infarction with symptom of Phlegm and Blood Stasis.
