Sanguisorba Radix is the dried roots of Sanguisorba officinalis L. orSanguisorba officinalis L. var. longifolia (Bert). Yü et Li., which are the perennialherbs of the Rosaceae. Sanguisorba genus are widely distributed in Northeast, northChina, Nourthwest,Guangxi Province and Europe. Sanguisorba Radix as one of thewell-known Chinese traditional medicines, was first recorded in“Shen Nong’s HerbalClassic”, has effects of hemostatic, antipyretic detoxicate. In clinical application, it isused for the treatment of children with tuberculous abscess, burns, diarrhoea, stomach bleeding and enterities, etc.Referring to the related references, we noticed that Sanguisorba officinalis L. hasbeen studied by scholars from various countries all over the world, and a variety ofchemical constituents have been found in this genus, such as triterpenoids, tannins, flavonoids, steroids, etc. However, so far, there are few research reports aboutmonoterpene glycosides from this plant. In order to make full use of this plantresources, monoterpene glycosides of Sanguisorba officinalis L. are studied in thispaper. This paper mainly contains3parts as follows:1. Referring to the related references, the author reviewed the latest researchprograss in chemical constituents and pharmacological activity of Sanguisorbaofficinalis L.2. In order to get monoterpene glycosides, the extraction and isolation areperformed on Sanguisorba officinalis L.: The roots of Sanguisorba officinalis L.(4kg),were extracted by the decocting method for3times, concentrated and solubled inwater, filtered, concentrated and solution by macroporous resin D-101, concentratedthe part of70%. This part is isolated with silica gel column, ODS column and HPLCand obtain3compounds: Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ.3. On the grounds of chemical and spectroscopic methods, their structures were identified as citronellol-1-O-α-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1),geraniol-1-O-α-L-arabinofuranosyl-(1'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), geraniol-1-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1'6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3). Comound1is a newmonoterpene glycoside and compounds2,3were isolated from the Sanguisorba genusfor the first time.
