The regular system of the coastal defence started in Ming Dynasty in our country.Previous studies on the coastal defence of Ming Dynasty mostly belong to thetraditional historical research, which focus on the establishment and system and theirchanges of the coastal Weisuo, the Anti-Japanese people and events, and the situationof coastal defence, little research from the angel of geographical space. The othersdissert the coastal situation and space layout of some large regions from a macroperspective, and the research on the local system, such as stockade, camp, beacontower, lookout or fort and Xunjiansi, are few and simple.In this paper, we study the system of Taozhu Suo and its local configuration asthe object, based on Taizhou region and its coastal defence situation, and the naturalenvironment in Ming Dynasty, take the three levels of Haimen Wei-Taozhu Suo-beacon towers as the clue, focuse on the analysis of the migration of Taozhu Suo andthe specific configuration, combined with the evolution of local administrative systemand military system in Ming Dynasty, finally restore the system and map of thecoastal defence of Taozhu Suo, and then have a more subtle understanding on thecoastal defence of Zhejiang in Ming Dynasty.Research methods are basically use of historical geography, as well as idea andmethods. Basic on the military books of Ming Dynasty and the local chronicles, withreference to the previous research and the reports of local archaeological survey,combining with field investigation and interview, we make a specific analysis of theestablishment of coastal Weisuo of Taizhou in Ming dynasty, especially the siteselection, layout and evolution of Taozhu Suo and the affiliated beacon towers,restore the space disposition of the local coastal defence area of Taozhu Suo in Mingdynasty, and then have a more comprehensive understanding of the coastal defence ofZhejiang in Ming Dynasty.
