This study is based on relevant research on teaching Chinese as a secondlanguage and second language acquisition either local or abroad. Also the study isbased on the result of questionnaire survey responses of Indonesia student inIndonesia. The ultimate goal of this study is to determine the characteristics ofIndonesia student learning motivation, analyze the factors that affect their learningmotivation, in order to provide reference and recommendations for improving thequality of teaching Chinese as a second language.The article is divided into five chapters: Chapter One is the introduction,introduces the background of the study, the purpose of the study, the method andinnovation of the study. The second chapter contents the literature review, whichpresent a synopsis of previous research in learning motivation. Chapter three is theanalysis of the Indonesia student Chinese language learning motivations. The chapterfour is Strategies for stimulating Indonesia student’s Chinese language learningmotivation. The chapter five is the conclusionThe result shows us that Indonesian students have high interest in studyingChinese language. The other result also shows that Non-Chinese Indonesia studentshave higher Chinese language learning motivation, which indicate that more andmore Non-Chinese Indonesia students value Chinese Language as a SecondLanguage. Finnally, in the line with Indonesia Chinese schools current situation, weprovide some teaching and management reccomendation to improve the quality ofChinese Language teaching in Indonesia.
