| With the development of economic globalization, and China’s entry to WTO,trade between China and the world has increased rapidly, with more and morefrequent business contact and communication. In the process of internationalcommunication, it is of great necessity to understand the cultural diversity and ofgreat importance to have the international communication competence. For thebusiness-oriented students, learning international communication is not onlymastering English knowledge and the related business knowledge, but also beingaware of cultural differences, so as to make international business communicationmuch easier. As one of the most important courses of business English majors,business English writing (BE writing) is one of the essential skills in the involvementof international business activities. Therefore, more and more attention has been paidto the cultural issues in BE writing.This thesis will be based on the training of students’ intercultural awareness andintercultural competence, with Task-based approach as its theoretical framework, aimsat cultivating students to become business professionals, combines with the culturalrequirements in National Curriculum for Business English BA Program (For TrialImplementation), and it probes into ICC competence in BE writing. The subjectssurveyed are from the100juniors majoring in international economy and trade inXi’an International Studies University. The author conducted a research on ICCcompetence in their BE writing. Based on the culture problems in their writing, theauthor analyzed the textbook Business English Writing to find out the knowledgeculture and communicative culture in this book. The author tries to integrate the BEwriting course with cultivating the cultural awareness and cultural competence to findapplicable teaching methods as well as to provide some suggestions to the teaching ofbusiness English and BE writing. |
