| This thesis is a meta-research focusing on interpreting studies itself. The authorconducts a systematic study on domestic interpreting studies in the past decade in twoaspects: characteristics and defects. In this thesis, the author collects a total of222CNKIcore papers produced from July,2001to June,2011with interpreting as their subjectmatters and adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to describe andanalyse these four domestic interpreting characteristics and one defect. This thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter one introduces researchbackground, research purpose, research scope, research methodology and layout of thethesis. Chapter two is literature review centering on domestic interpreting studies in fouraspects: research themes, research methodologies, characteristics and trends, defects andsuggestions for future interpreting studies. In chapter three the author adopts bothquantitative and qualitative methods to analyse each one of four characteristics of domesticinterpreting studies, namely, researchers becoming younger, interdisplinary studybecoming more prevalent, more closely connected with the marker and more interactionswith Western countries. In chapter four the author focuses on one of the defects ofdomestic interpreting studies---research methodologies. What’s more, the author alsoproposes some suggestions for future interpreting studies. The last chapter introduces themajor findings and shortcomings of the study. On the basis of investigation and analyses of222CNKI core papers on domesticinterpreting studies, this thesis makes tentative predictions on the characteristics anddefects of domestic interpreting studies in favor of a more scientific and normalizeddirection. Meanwhile, the author also hopes this research could provide someenlightenment for future research efforts. |
