Xi’an Toponym And Culture

Xi’an, the capital of Thirteen Dynasties, is a famous historical andcultural city. Toponym recorded Xi’an profound historical and cultural heritage as thecarrier of culture. This thesis uses the theory and methods of cultural linguistics to thestudy of toponym in Xi’an, systematic analysis of the relationship between languageand culture. Mainly including:1.The structure of Xi’an toponym.2.The Semantic ofXi’an toponym and culture.3.The pronunciation of Xi’an toponym andculture.4.Scientific naming of Xi’an toponym. Based on the analysis of the lexicalstructure of Xi’an toponym,we do classification reseaech about2090Xi’antoponym(including the streets and alleys of workshop and the natural villages) todiscussion the cultural connotation of toponym. Then from the pronunciation andcognitive aspects analysis culture effects naming and use of toponym. On top ofthis,we can view the present situation of Xi’an toponym,and proposed the scientificproposal of toponym naming and use.
