The publication of the“Standard of Music Curriculum”raises brand new requirements for music teachers, and at the same time poses novel challenges for future music teachers, who are now students majoring in music education. Most graduates of music education will become teachers, thus the process, with in which students can be educated to qualified music teachers, turns to be the focus of college music education. Hence, in order to nurture qualified middle-school music teachers, universities should follow closely to the new trends of reforms in primary education so that they can improve students’teaching ability.This paper attempts to find solutions to those questions such as what capabilities should students in universities be trained; How did students cultivate their teaching capabilities; What problems do the universities face in the processes of training the teaching capability; What should the universities reform in order to improve the students’teaching capability of adapting to the new reform? Around these issues will be divided into 6 parts of this article discusses:The first chapter is introduction which includes question to be studied and the significance by sorting out the relevant document. Then, this part introduces the research approaches and research plans.The second chapter focuses on the structure of training students’teaching capabilities, including defining the structure of the teaching ability, requirements of the new curriculum standards on teachers’abilities in music, music education professional training for students in colleges and universities.The third chapter is the current survey and analysis of the students’teaching capabilities, which includes two of the present situation of teaching ability of college students and analysis of survey results, and the similarities and differences of two colleges (Tianjin Conservatory Of Music, Shandong Normal University)in the area of training mode .The fourth chapter is now training model of higher music education and music teacher’s teaching ability analysis of space. which including the teaching ability of college students and the gap between primary and secondary school music teaching, and find out the reason.The fifth chapter is about the strategies of fostering the teaching capability of the students in universities. which including the training mode of music education in universities, and skills teaching ,teaching of music theory, music education courses in the teaching of the theory, teaching practice to make training in areas such as strategy.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.
