A Comparative Research On The Expression Techniques Of The Vulnerable Groups In Anhua Xu And Liwen Ma’s Film

Anhua Xu and Liwen Ma are recognized as representative figures in Hong Kong "New wave cinema" field and the sixth-generation mainland directors. As female directors, their works are characterized by relying on their female identity and distinct work style in the Chinese filmdom. Meanwhile, they pay common attention on the vulnerable groups. This essay’s focus is on the differences of expressions that have applied in their movies, and then clarifying the images presented in their movies to summarize and compare the similarities and differences in the presenting style. By means of such comparison, further inspiration will be reflected that could be used as a reference in the future Chinese film creation.The article is composed by three parts including introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction section briefly describes the creation of the two directors, pointed out the representativeness of the two directors from the movie selection and comparability.
