Study On The Value And Sustainable Development Of Natural Heritage Sites

World Heritage is unique, non-renewable, it has a great significance for thehistory, reality and future of human being. South China Karst was inscribed as naturalheritage on the World Heritage List by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in2007. Shilin Karst of Yunnan is an important part of South China Karst, it has anoutstanding universal value for the study of heritage protection. they are direct objectsof geo-science studies, and natural laboratories of geo-science and teaching practices.The present thesis makes a case study of Shilin Karst of Yunnan, specifically analyzesways of sustainable development by methods of collecting documents, expert advices,on-spot investigation, combining qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,combining dynamic analysis and static analysis and other methods, and puts forwardthe countermeasures to ensure natural resources and other tourism resources to bedeveloped sustainably. According to the relation between protection and developmentin natural reserve, the further understanding, conservation and utilization of theresources will significantly advance the economic development in the region andprosperity of natural reserve.Besides foreword and conclusion，this thesis is divided into three parts.The first part includes chapter1and chapter2. The first chapter gives theresearch significance through analysis of the protection and development condition ofWorld Heritage home and abroad at the present and concludes the content of the study.The second chapter studies the protection and development of World Heritageaccording to the heritage’s value and function based on theory in protection anddevelopment. It points out the problems and the trend in protection and developmentof heritages which lay the theoretical foundation for the study of heritage resources inShilin Karst of Yunnan.The second part includes chapter3, chapter4, chapter5and chapter6. This partdescribes the location’s physical feature and the special geology distinction, andcompares with the other similar karst landscape in the world. Then, the paper makesfurther discussion of the value of Shilin karst. The third part includes Chapter7and Chapter8.This part gives SWTO analysisof the development of heritage tourism in Shilin Karst of Yunnan and calculates itsenvironmental capacity and forecasts its tourist market. The last chart puts forwardthe current problems in protection and management on the basis of study on thesustainable development and gives the feasible comments and suggestion inprotection, management, development for Shilin Karst of Yunnan according to thetheory of sustainable development.
