Research On Nian Army In Henan

Henan is one of the most active areas in the whole Nian Army movement and play an important role.Nian Army’s activities in Henan and the functions that Henan had done in the whole Nian Armymovement have it’s general character and uniqueness which compared with the others areas.This articleattempts to analysis Nian Army’s activity in Henan from the following several aspects. The army hadappeared in Henan area has it’s history background, political and economic factors and Henangeographical advantages.There are three ways which Nian Army mainly activities in Henan, those areactivities of local Nian Army in Henan, Nian Army of Anhui and Henan combined operations in Henan,as well as Nian Army cooperated with other organizations which against the Qing Dynasty inHenan.This paper introduces the early local Nian Army in Henan which affected the main area of Henan,the leader of Henan local Nian Army whom influenced the military movement of the whole Nian Armysuch as Sutianfu, Wangguansan and Chendaxi etc.,and the important battles had taken place betweenlocal Nian Army of Henan and the Qing military in history.The paper discussed the relationship betweenNian Army of Anhui’s and Henan’s, and those major campaigns that Nian Army of Anhui in Henan hadtaken place with the Qing military and the cities they had conquered in Henan,and their activities inHenan had influenced the local Nian Army of Henan in the whole movement of the Nian Army; As forNian Army against the Qing Dynasty with other organizations which had jointed with it, the paperdivided into the same organization of the active joint operations against the Qing Dynasty such asTaiping Army, and with the negative group cooperation such as Miaopeilin Tuanlian and local banditslandlords two different types in this paper, the paper discussed and analysed the results of the twodifferent types which they had jointed cooperation. The last part of the paper the author discussed thatHenan province had acted about the main battle-ground of the role in Nian Army history, except that itfocuses on the Henan province guarantee the channel that it had played to the other Nian Army activitiesand that other place which Nian Army activities may not have the function of it; In the end of the paper,the author analysed objectively that Henan Nian area had done about the position and role in the wholehistory of Nian Army.
