| With the rapid development of information technology, more and morecompanies are using the Third Party of Logistics to meet their own needs so as tobe more competitive. China started developing logistics relatively late but fairlyrapidly. Thus it shall learn from western countries to develop logistics industry. This project is based on translation of “Building Value in Logistics Outsourcingâ€produced by IBM Business Institute Service. It will help to form a picture of thepresent situation of logistics outsourcing and its future.According to the functional equivalence of Eugene A. Nida, this projectdiscusses how to overcome difficulties during translating the practical researchreport, including how to deal with terms, sentence patterns and reportstandardization. Besides, the report proposes such solutions as annotation, longsentence division, amplification and omission. In the process, the translator makesfull use of different tools, including MBA encyclopedia and English to ChineseDictionary and related logistics books to nurture the abilities of searchinginformation, analyzing and solving problems. The translator also learns that atranslator must know everything of something and something of everything as wellas perseverance and higher pursuit.Despite the translators’ efforts, there are still some weak points in this project. For example, due to the incomplete understanding of some charts, there are someawkward traces left in the translation. And it’s not perfect in coherence andconsistency. Versions of some long and difficult sentences can be improved. Onlyif the translator works harder both in reading and practicing, will these problems beovercome in the future. |
