Angela McRobbie is scholar of cultural studies, feminist and critic in Britain.Since British cultural studies were introduced to China in1990s, a great deal ofrelative theory and research practices have been brought in and learned. AngelaMcRobbie is a key figure within British cultural studies domain. Her scholarshipabout cultural studies is on the one hand relative to Bermingham School which isregarded as the origin of British cultural studies, and is representative of culturalstudies’ shift toward postmodernism in Britain. So far there isn’t an overallintroduction of McRobbies’ cultural studies academics. This paper tends to discuss heracademic attribution to cultural studies domain through a detailed reading of herwritings such as “Feminism and Youth Culture”,“Postmodernism and PopularCulture” and so on, so as to provide some inspiration for domestic cultural studies.Issues of gender, class and ethnicity draw the most attention of McRobbie, which isdemonstrated in her political intervention throughout her cultural studies. Apart fromher spirit of political intervention, her methodology applied in cultural study practicesis also worth learning. McRobbie is always advocating and practicing thetranse-disciplineness of cultural studies, pursuing the intersection of theories andmethodology of cultural studies, sociology and media studies. Nowadays in China, with the development of cultural industry, there appears more and more culturalphenomenon. McRobbie’s cultural study academics are very helpful and useful boththeoretically and methodologically.
