The Chinese tones are both difficulties for students learning and for teachers teaching Chinese as a second language. For foreigners, especially whose native languages are intonation languages, Chinese tone is the biggest reason for causes misunderstood by others. This phenomenon is typical in learners with English as their mother tongue. This paper is aims to help them learn Chinese tones faster and better.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction which illustrates the content of research, innovations and research significance.The second chapter is comparative study on English and Chinese phonetic system. According to the previous research results, we convince that the English and Chinese language phonetic system are comparable, and this chapter puts forward the speech on some of the similar points between this two language phonetic system.The third chapter demonstrates the mother tongue do influence learner’s learning of Chinese, and then based on the contrast research results, this paper analyzes the English and Chinese characteristics of the similarities:the syllables stress except the last one of an English word is similar with the Chinese first tone; English high rising tone is similar with Chinese second tone and high falling tone is similar with Chinese forth tone. Based on this conclusion, we proposes a new tone teaching scheme by using positive transfer strategy of mother tongue.The last chapter is conclusion. The positive transfer strategy can not only help teachers to save time and efforts, but also provoke the enthusiasm of students on learning Chinese. This article tries to provide teachers a brand new method to teach Chinese as foreign language. however, we should know how impossible to avoid all shortcomings, hope we can see more people go into this new theory and perfect it in the future.
