As the key and the crux of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese characters are the major handicap in Chinese learning of the foreign students from non-character-using countries especially those students from Africa. With the quick development of the practice and the research of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, how to strengthen the research of the teaching Chinese characters have been paid more and more attentions by the whole filed of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. How to enhance the efficiency and the level of learning Chinese characters are among the hot spots in the research field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The writing errors of Chinese characters of foreign students have the feature of both university and particularity. University refers to the phenomenon that the writing errors of Chinese characters of the foreign students commonly exist. Particularity refers to the phenomenon that the errors of character writing of the foreign students differ from different levels of study. The university and particularity of the writing errors of Chinese characters can reflect the problems in different learning level. According to the research of the writing errors, the solutions will be raised to help the foreign students to have a better acquisition of Chinese.According to the research of the writing errors, the problems and obstacles on the matter of the learning strategies of foreign learners, the teaching method of the Chinese teachers and the arrangement of the teaching materials will be revealed. This thesis analyzes two Africa students, comprehensively investigates the writing errors, aims to systematically summarize the writing errors, analyzes the reasons of the writing errors, and poses relevant countermeasures and suggestions in order to improve the grasp of Chinese characters and Chinese learning level.This thesis includes six parts. The first part reports the reason why this theme is chosen, tells the theoretical present, significances, purposes and methods of this thesis. The second part introduces the theoretical basis, purpose of the investigations, the objects and the scope of the investigations. The third part presents the writing errors of two investigation objects, analyzing the writing errors of the exercise books and examination papers from stoke level, assembly level to whole character level with relevant examples of errors in different levels. The forth part describes the summary of analysis reasons which causing the writing errors from the perspective of the learners themselves, the characteristic of Chinese, the negative transfer of their mother tone, the influence of the Chinese teachers and the arrangement of the Chinese teaching materials. The fifth part discusses the countermeasures of the writing errors from learning strategies, teaching methods and the arrangement of the teaching materials. The sixth part evaluates the basic conclusions and its drawbacks.
