Application Of Miao Embroidery In Leathercraft Jewelry Design

Modern leathercraft can be classified into machine production and purely handmade.This article focuses on a modern pure leathercraft. Leathercraft art originated in Europe,making use of a variety of special tools, carved on vegetable tanned leather by hand,known as "soft relief” and the " living fossil " of folk art. Miao embroidery designs arethe wisdom of Hmong people thousands years of labor practice, which strongly reflectstheir love and worship of life, nature, and national culture. In a sense, it is writing ofHmong, the history book of Hmong and the totem they dressed.This paper will combine the art of modern leathercraft and Miao embroidery patternto do research, respectively, from development of the leahercraft art, the leathercraftconcepts and artistic style, the artistic features of the Miao embroidery patterns, Miaoembroidery designs used in leathercraft jewelry. Both the leathercraft art and Miaoembroidery have the characteristic of elegance and simplicity of natural beauty, I will try tointegrate the characteristic in my graduate design, make modern leathercraft art has aunique artistic flavor of China, also a new attempt to express traditional Miao embroideryart in different forms.
