This article takes the prison narrative in the novels of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China(1901-1927)as the research object, and puts forward the Reform of the New Deal prison in the late Qing Dynasty in 1901 to the occurrence of the coup in 1927 as the historical background. From the perspective of narrative ethics and narrative discourse, the image of prisoners in the narrative of the prison in the novels, the circumstances of the escape, and the content of the penalty are specifically discussed during the period of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The first chapter focuses on the historical background and outlines the path of construction to transformation of the Chinese novel prison narrative around the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republican period.First of all,the term "prison" is interpreted and leads us into the world of prison narrative in Chinese novels. However, prison narratives cannot go to the path of consciousness due to the multiple historical reasons of traditional novels. After experiencing the historical turmoil of the "fiction revolution" in the late Qing Dynasty, the translation and introduction of Western novels, and the reformation of prison in the late Qing and early Republic of China, the prison narrative of Chinese novels was transformed during the period of the late Qing and early Republic, and the meaning of prisons in the text was reshaped. The second chapter enters into the narrative text, starting from the narrative perspective of the main characters,"prisoners",in the prison narrative of the novels of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and analyzes the evolution of the prison narrative perspective of the novels from the late Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China.By analyzing the author's control, selection and transformation of the narrative perspective in different periods from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China, find out the connection between how the author processes motivation and the times behind the change of narrative perspective. The third chapter is based on the composition of the relationship between the narrator and the prisoner in the second chapter. From the perspective of narrative ethics,it explores the internal connection between the concept of "national" advocated by intellectuals and the awakening of people's personal consciousness at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic.By analyzing the author's handling of the prisoner's escape in the prison narrative work and the natural sense of resistance contained in the prison escape plot, the consciousness of the change in the consciousness of the "prince of the king" to the "people of the country" implied in the prison narrative at the end of the Republic of China was clarified. The fourth chapter is based on the description of the penalties within the prison narrative discourse, and the historical background of the reformation of the prison in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. It analyzes the multiple power relationships behind the scale of penalties within the prison narrative discourse. This article will return to the historical scene of the turbulent situation in the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic and the confrontation between old and new ideas, and combine the novel narrative with history and sociology to clarify the general context of the prison novel narrative in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The prison narrative reflects the special narrative reform process of the late Qing and early Republic of China.
