Good interview programs are animportant part of high quality media resources that must be fully utilized. Simultaneousinterpreting of interview programs on TV bears the distinctive features ofknowledge-intensity, spontaneity, cultural diversity and constant turn-taking. This thesisreports on tentative experience of doing simultaneous interpreting for Yang Lan’s TVinterview with Lin Yifu, vice governor and chief economist of the World Bank. Byanalyzing these four distinctive features of the45minutes’ long exchange in detail, Icontend that with each of these different kinds of conversations, the interpreter needs toallocate his or her efforts differently. On the basis of Gile’s Effort Model—SI(Simultaneous Interpreting)=L (Listening and Analysis)+M (Short-term Memory)+P(Speech Production)+C (Coordination), it is believed that at each stage of the work, theinterpreter should control the coordination and cooperation of effort distribution for varioustasks which will be arranged in order of priority which is in line with the purpose ofachieving a relatively good interpreting.
