| Idioms are a kind of idiomatic phrases which are often used by Chinese in their daily life.They can express themselves simply and clearly by using idioms, moreover, idioms canexpress speaker`s emotions as well as the value system. The speaker often uses idioms incommunication, in order to express his intentions. However, if foreign students do notthoroughly master idioms, they will encounter comprehension difficulties, and will not beable to conduct a regular communication, therefore teaching foreigners idioms cannot beoverlooked. According to Korean students, the most important goal of learning Chineselanguage is to develop their communication skills. Furthermore, by the appropriate using ofidioms, the speaker can show his communication skills. Therefore, the Korean students shouldlearn the idioms in order to reach their final purpose.The intermediate and advanced Korean students have already been learning idioms, yettheir level of mastering idioms is not high. Therefore, this study, by the means of survey thatthe Korean students participated in, analyzes their level of understanding and aims at state ofunderstanding the idioms of teachers and professors of Chinese language in order to help theirstudents. From the state of acquisition of idioms by Korean students we can see that thesituation of their ordinary learning of idioms, their level of interest for the idioms and thelength of their stayed in China are the three aspects influencing their ability to learn Chineseidioms. Therefore, to promote mastering idioms in this study I chose to use Dictoglossactivity in the basics of the teaching methods of the traditional idioms, in order to increase theinterest and passion towards studying as well as the opportunity of introducing a lot ofChinese idioms.The Chapter 1 discusses the significance of the task of this thesis, the conditions of theresearch, contents and means of the research as well as the scope of the research. Chapter 2summarizes the definitions of the idioms obtained from literature, semantic characteristics,characteristics of the composition and of the language use, the method of application ofthe contrastive analysis in order to analyze differences between idioms and other idiomaticphrases with defining their characteristics. Chapter 3 informs about the survey of the state oflearning idioms by the Korean students , the survey of the state of teaching idioms by teachersalong with the analysis, getting information about the state of idioms learnt by students by themeans of questionnaire as well as to comprehend the factors which influence studying theidioms, getting knowledge of often used teaching methods for teaching idioms by teachersextracted from the questionnaire. Chapter 4 discusses and analyses the methods of teaching of the idioms. The author, on the basis of the contents of Chapter 3, obtains results, discusses andanalyses the relatively suitable teaching methods for intermediate and advanced Koreanstudents. Chapter 5, the conclusion, summarize the discussed contents of the thesis and raisessuggestions for the next research. |
