The Resilience Effect On Subjective Well-being In Parents Of Children With Autism:the Mediating Role Of Self Consistency And Congruence,Social Anxiety

This study is aimed at exploring the situation and relationships between resilience and subjective well being of the autistic children's parents.Both qualitative and quantitative researches are adopted as the major research methods during the study.At first,by interviewing the autistic children's parents and normal children's parents to explain the present situation and the internal relationships of resilience and subjective well-being,and to get the kernel variables.Then using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),the Self Consistency and Congruence Scale(SCCS),the Interaction Anxiousness scale(IAS)and the Subjective Well-being Scale(GWB),the study tested 122 autistic children's parents and 327 normal children's parents.The results are as follows:1.Children's parents' resilience was affected by gender,employment status,and income level;self consistency and congruence and social anxiety was affected by income level;2.The parents of autistic children showed a significant lower level of resilience,self consistency and congruence,and subjective well being than that of parents of normal children;3.There was a positive correlation between resilience,self consistency and congruence,and subjective well being;but social anxiety and resilience,self consistency and congruence,subjective well-being have a significant negative correlation;4.The social anxiety of the parents of autistic children serves as an partial mediation between self consistency and congruence and subjective well-being:5.The self consistency and congruence of the parents of autistic children serves as an partial mediation between resilience and subjective well-being,but for the parents of normal children,the relation was not significant;.6.The self consistency and congruence of both types of parents serves as an important mediation between resilience and social anxiety.The study shows that resilience,self consistency and congruence,social anxiety have a important impact on subjective well being of parents of autistic children.
