Experiential teaching is kind of teaching model in which teachers create certain teaching contexts, based on related theories to stir emotions and inspire students to understand received knowledge and test it in real practice on their own, so as to develop independent learning skills, creativity and the ability to combine knowledge with feelings. It is also a brand new teaching theory and methodology. It introduces experiential activities which are designed according to the theory of experience to classroom teaching, so that students can learn knowledge and deepen understanding through experiences. Cultural teaching is an important part of teaching Chinese as a second language. Without the support of advanced theories, it will never succeed. However, at present, related researches are insufficient. So this thesis starts from experiential teaching to explore the model of cultural teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language. The thesis applies comparative analysis and statistical analysis. By comparing the advantages of traditional teaching and experiential teaching in cultural teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language, by analyzing features and requirements of different stages in teaching Chinese as a second language, and by calculating specific aspects of folk custom culture and etiquette in Boya Chinese Beginner Vol.1and using them to show how experiential teaching is carried out in detail, this thesis attempts to test the feasibility of experiential teaching in cultural teaching in teaching Chinese as a second language and to find out its sphere of application and limitations so as to build a feasible model. The key part of this thesis is Part4. In this part, the author uses games, role playing, story-telling and context simulation based on principles of designing experiential teaching activities, to display the teaching process of folk custom culture and etiquette in Lesson1, Lesson7, Lesson8, Lesson10, Lesson13, Lessonl7, Lessonl8, Lesson22, Lesson25and Lesson30in Boya Chinese Beginner Vol.1.
