In everyday life, people commonly used the greeting when they meet. This is acertainly sign of the relationship between the speaker and the man who was greeted.Different nations have different ways of greeting, which embodies the various nationsof different habits of social interaction. Therefore, the use of greeting both factors ofthe communication object andthe communicative situation, but also by the limitationsof the cultural, psychological, and social background factors. If the greeting is usedimproperly, will affect the communication is carried out smoothly. In cross-culturalcommunication, foreign students often make a mistake.Greeting is divided into two kinds of verbal and non verbal. According to theclassification, we find the commonly used type of greeting were: composite type, titletype, greeting type, composite greeting. Based on the above statistical results, wedesigned a questionnaire for the students of Jilin University. By SPSS software, wefind the commonly used type of greeting were: title type,greeting type, title type andtitle type.At the same time,our analysts belive that gender does not affect us tochoose what type of greeting.In contrast to textbook statistics and survey findings on the basis, we proposedthat the greeting materials should be prepared close to real life, focusing on thesettings of the communicative situation. Textbooks addition should contain acommonly used type of greeting.We must also introduce the interjection type, and soon that is not commonly used type. And it is very important to introduce the culturalconnotation of the greeting. Teachers in the teaching process should pay attention tothe teaching of greeting.We should teach it step-by-step.And we should use acombination of scenario and practice teaching to teach students.
