Based on the teaching materials of Follow Me and Communicate In Chinese, this thesis tried to compare and analyze their elements, including situational dialogues, new words, language points, common expressions, cultural backgrounds, notes and excises, from the perspective of Communicative Language Teaching. On this basis, we discussed the advantages, disadvantages and their own characteristics in their compilation, and how did Follow Me put the Communicative Language Teaching into effect. What’s more, this thesis offered optimizations in the compilation of Communicate In Chinese, so as to enhance the adaptability of this kind of Chinese teaching materials. Last but not least, some proposals about oral Chinese textbooks based on communicative approach have been put forward.This thesis aims to provide some references for the compilation, development and use of foreign spoken Chinese textbooks. And improve the efficiency in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. In addition, to contribute a portion of Chinese international spread.
