In recent years, with the Chinese fervor booming all around the world, and the work of Chinese teaching comprehensively launches, the importance of Chinese character teaching for foreign students has been clear. Anyway, it’s still a relatively new thing, we still have work to do—to research and to practice. Besides, benefit from our theoretical study of Chinese character and the teaching practice, I choose this topic, and gradually improve the overall frame structure.Based on the summary of the past ten years, I tried to sort out the advantages and disadvantages, and the redeeming features in the process of the development of Chinese character teaching. I tried to use the method which I found and can work efficiently, tried to teach on my own conception, to verify the theories by glyph Analysis method.Through the exploration of the nature of Chinese character, combining with the teaching practice, this article attempts to see the development, innovation, correct and the basic role which the Chinese character teaching plays, and unlimited potential from the perspective of the Chinese character itself.Finally, conclusions are obtained. It’s not the Chinese character difficult to learn, but the theories which we used to guide us teachers and students are varied and are not explicit. Also, the teaching practice and theory study synchronous speed is slow. All the above made a bottle-neck in the whole TCSL.Instead, if the characteristics of Chinese character can be fully understood and used, Chinese teaching will be interesting and easy to accept and acquisition.
