On The Relationship Of Liu Yiming’s View Of One Energy Of Former Heaven Reverence And Tathagatagarbha Of Buddhism

Liu Yiming’s one energy of former heaven reverence(先天真一)plays a very important position in his system of the Elixir method(丹法). The thesis makes a comparative study of this doctrine and the Buddhist theory of Tathagatagarbha, and obtains the following points.First, in the Liu Yiming’s system of the Elixir method(丹法),one energy of former heaven reverence(先天真一)isn’t the medium of the Tao and the world, Liu equated one energy of former heaven reverence(先天真一)with Tathagatagarbha.Second, Liu built three concepts which were Heart of heaven(天心)-Heart of Tao(道心)-Heart of self-conscious(人心),Primal Spirit(元神)-Conscious Spirit(识神),Dharma Body(法身)-Magic body(幻身)In the system of Tianxin-Daoxin-Heart of self-conscious, Heart of heaven has the similar function and status with Sunya-Tathagatagarbha(空如来藏)Heart of Tao and Amogha-Tathagatagarbha(不空如来藏)show similarity on function and status. In the system of Primal Spirit-Conscious Spirit, Liu Yiming discussed the origin of Primal Spirit and Conscious Spirit and he believed that the life has Primal Spirit at conception. Conscious Spirit unites with Primal Spirit when child is born and Primal Spirit is hidden in Conscious Spirit. In the system of Dharma Body, Liu Yiming expounded on the view that Magic body can’t enlighten(成道)In the Liu Yiming’s system of the internal alchemy(内丹),the achievement of Minggong(命功)does not represent the achievement of Dharma Body. It can be insufficient for determining the achievement of minggong by Dharma Body. It not be accurate that Liu Yiming’s Minggong didn’t reach its limit.
