The quantifier is the distinguished feature in the Sino-Tibetan Language. The universal quantity’ge’with its strong ability of collocation becomes the most popular quantifier for foreign students to use which arise the problem that cannot be ignored of the generalization of’ge’in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. By analyzing the questionnaire survey on quantifier’ge’of foreign students, this paper has got the first hand material of the students’subjective understanding and problem on the generalization of quantifier’ge’, then makes discussion based on the material and explores the evidence and feasibility of the generalization problem of quantifier’ge’which sorts out a reasonable teaching methods of this quantifier.The paper has five parts.The first part:Introduction. The author briefly explains the basic characteristic and value of quantifier in Chinese from the different language family backgrounds of east and west. In the meanwhile, by reviewing and citing the related research on the quantifier’ge’, the paper introduces the basic situation of this study which makes the necessary reference on the latter research. The author makes the indispensable discussion of each study on the generalization of quantifier’ge’which states that the study on’ge’is valuable.The second part:The reason why quantifier’ge’is generalized used in the Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. The paper analyses the reason why the quantifier’ge’was generalized objectively from three perspective:student learning, teaching and the function and characteristics of the quantifier’ge’ which provide the fundamental evidence of importance and necessity of doing research on quantifier’ge’and its generalization. So the preliminary conclusion has been made that we should be tolerance to the use of generalization of’ge’ when foreign students are learning Chinese in the beginning. The tird part:The questionnaire survey of quantifier’ge’and its deviation analysis. Based on the fresh questionnaire survey that the author has made in Thailand Chinese teaching, the paper analyses the data with problem which are encountered with the foreign students learning the quantifier. The paper states that the phenomenon of generalization of quantifier ’ge’is quite widespread and the learning of quantifier is one of the difficulties in studying Chinese.The fourth part:the author makes an original and in-depth analysis and reflection on the intension and basic characteristics of the generalization of quantifier collocation with nouns. The paper proposes the core connotation of the abstractness of the collocation of quantifier’ge’with nouns that is the thing or activity which is related with human mentally, with integrated conceptual, with beyond description, fuzzy things and activities.The fifth part:Conclusion...
