Chinese Art Songs’ Development Course And Style Characteristics Of The20the Century

As a special song genre, The art song has formed in late18th century Europe. Our country composer began to use foreign art songs at the beginning of the20th century. So far it has nearly years of history in china. In the course of development of years’history, The art song has also experienced a very bumpy road as a result of China’s social politics, economy, culture and others’ups and downs. In the process of the art songs creation, Early composers of our country not only use the foreign advanced composition technique for reference, but also pay attention to combination with our nation’s traditional culture, and gradually worked out a art song creation way reflecting national characteristic with Chinese characteristics, Thus let Chinese art songs glow and dazzling glorious and brought them the first glorious period in the last century20to40s. However, from40s, due to the outbreak of war and the historical reason, the art song gradually ranked behind the mainstream music at that time such as masses songs and revolutionary songs. In the17years between the establishment of PRC and cultural revolution, due to the focus on the establishment of democratic regime and economic recovery, the art song once was at a low period when it was not taken seriously. Especially during the cultural revolution, including art songs, many cultural styles were at the situation where they were prohibited and stopped. Of course, the art song was influenced by the special period and social historical background, because it is an inevitable product of some era, so with the reform and opening of the spring breeze blow, Chinese art songs ushered the second brilliant development period from80s. The art song became a topic often discussed by insiders because as a result of its development process faltering and its special artistic charm. This paper also chose the topic to research, started from the definition of the art song and has analyzed the history background of Chinese and west art songs. And then this paper discussed the first half of20th century Chinese art songs’development process in detail and summarized the characteristics of Chinese art songs after carding their development vein well.
