The Study Of Xiao Hong’s Poetry

Xiao Hong, as a famous female writer in the20th century’s Chinese modern literature history, her novels and essays were much concerned by critics. Her special characteristics as a poet and the poetic color shown in her writing were well known, but her poetry itself has not been given enough attention it deserves. This paper, tries to give Xiao Hong’s poetry a more comprehensive and fully discussion and study from three aspects as follow:an overview of the general situation of Xiao Hong’s poetry, forms of expression and the aesthetic connotation, value judgment and limitations.The first part:give a comprehensive methodize of Xiao Hong’s general poetry writing situation. According to the different ideological content and the time sequence, her poetry creation can be divided into four categories:the early lyric short poetry, which preliminary reveal the basic characteristics of Xiao Hong’s poetry writing; love poetry which give full expression of the sweetness and bitterness during love, in which the clue of emotional development from ecstasy, doubts to lost can be found out; philosophizing little poems which give a record of precipitation thoughts when being exotic alone, showing the change from perceptual express to rational thoughts; revolutionary poetry from the standpoint of a friend, which can be divided into revolution theme and mourning poetry to cherish the memory of friends.The second part:analyse on the external features of expression forms and internal aesthetic connotation of Xiao Hong’s poems. Xiao Hong’s poems show much flexibility as a whole, poetry language is as natural as daily dialogue, turning out to be like prose form, including all kinds of questions of the means and the subtle change of different person, increasing aesthetic effect; the imagery lyrical methods are quite clear, from the intuitive sense viewpoint, to the interpretation functional use of symbol means, and the artistic conception creation, adding more rich aesthetic significance to he poetry; poetry reveal a sincere and natural style and features, which experience the process of change from pure, fresh, bright and beautiful to sad, depressed and melancholy.The third part:try to give a fair and objective evaluation of the artistic and literary value of Xiao Hong’s poetry. Xiao Hong’s poetry has the advanced nature of its own from the external manifestation to the inherent ideological value. Among them, the advancement of women standpoint in the ideological content reflects the distinctive female self-consciousness; free and wild language style can be interlinked with her other genres creation; upholding the attitude of self-privatefrom beginning to end is particularly valuable.However, objectively speaking, the short time of her creation and the lack of creation number restrict the further improvement of her writing level, as well as some immature pints. Ambivalence of Xiao Hong’s writing attitude shows the incompleteness of her female ideological emancipation, too casually loose external structure and creative process which did not get toward a full-fledged, limited the height of Xiao Hong’s poetic artistic merit.Overall, this paper is based on XiaoHong’s poetry text, focus on the case study of literary history, try to explore the overall appearance and personality traits of her poetry, making it as an effective complement to modern poetry and Xiao Hong’s study field.
