Study On Euphemism Teaching In TCSL

Euphemism is a language phenomenon in every historical period. As long as thelanguage is the major way of human communication, the euphemism is inevitableexistence and plays an important role in the lubrication interpersonal relationship.Euphemism’s main function is to use the language of the euphemism to avoid friction andconflict, not to hurt people’s feelings. Euphemism is an indispensable language inpeople’s daily communication. Chinese is more and more popular; many people come toChina to learn Chinese. In their abroad life, they have to communicate with other people;the correct use of euphemism can avoid communication failure. So the euphemism is veryimportant for students. In this paper, we make a brief overview of the euphemism’sdefinition, formation, function and system. We analyze the difficulties of euphemismacquisition from cultural differences, the fuzziness of the word meaning, the instability ofeuphemism and the diversity of the euphemism’s function. Based on previous studies, toput forward some teaching advice in euphemism’s culture, range and constitute. Finally weput forward some teaching and assessment methods.
