Successful action film series focused on creating heroic characters is numerous in thehistory of film home and abroad. The heroes created in such series are often popular andwell-known. Also the public was widely affected by the culture and values implied bythese heroic images. Tremendous commercial benefits from box-office receipts andcultural communication makes this kind of film continuously emerging. On the basis of thestudy of context, concepts and strategies of heroic character creation, as well as techniquesof image shaping in films, the paper aims to analyze and summarise the successfulexperience, the lackness and deficiency for subsequent films of the same type, whichshould be of great realistic value and significance, especially for the Chinese filmencountered with great development.The paper takes " Tsui Hark’s Huang Feihong " and "007" as examples, which are themost influential and representative action film series in the East and West, focusing on theinterpretation and analysis of the film text from the culture study Perspective, in order toexplore the way creators dealing with relationships between heroic screen characters andcreative context, seeking the concept, strategy and expression of heroic character creation.Based on the textual analysis and inspectin of6" Tsui Hark’s Huang Feihong " and22"007" films, including an analogy of two series for the first time, this paper argues thatsuccessful heroic image creation in a series of action films, firstly comes from the keenperception of the social environment, historical background and psychology by creators.Secondly, it comes from the further exploration and skillful representation of culturalmeaning and value-orientation involved in heroic images. Thirdly, it comes from theendless pursuit of banding, signification and symbolization in heroic image creation. Lastly,it also comes from the characteristic language expression of film.The main content of this paper include: the first chapter, Introduction; the second chapter, the creative context of heroic images; the third chapter, the creative concept andstrategy of heroes images; the last chapter, the image and style building of screen heroiccharacters.
