The Semiotic Study Of Modernity In Xu Ke's "Huang Feihong" Film

Huang Feihong serial films are one of the most well-known films in history of Chinese films.They have been shot for more than a hundred times.As a cultural phenomenon,it is amazing for sure.There are tons of interpretations of cultural phenomenon and analysis of aesthetics(especially about the Tsui Hark series of Huang Feihong).The study of film aesthetics and cultural phenomenon is not the focus of this article.Instead,it starts from the image of Huang Feihong and the history of modern Chinese,especially the very period when "Western learning" tide coincided with the age.The "modernity"in Huang Feihong is taken as the starting point of the research.Differences between"modernity" and "modern things" are mentioned from theoretical views.The author classifies modern things which come out in Huang Feihong according to structuralist research method.Based on the film text itself,this paper makes a symbolic analysis of the representation of "modernity" in serial films,which aims to understand the sorting,analysis of these symbols,and to understand how to make sense of how modern things exist.The following is the main content of this article:Introduction:This chapter introduces a simple overview of the research background,then points out that as a new research of "modernity" of semiotics research significance,and then points out in the introduction of the structure of the analysis methods.Chapter ?:From the perspective of the modernity,definition and concept of"modernity”and "modern things".Analysis features of modernity things as a whole in Huang Feihong film and style of XuKe films.Discuss the associations of invisible existence between Huang Feihong serial films and modern things.Chapter ?:According to two classification of semiotics tradition and specific situation of this article,we choose the latter method as classification caliber of modern things.Chapter ?:According to the classification of the level of the modern things,analysis that how these modern things construct meaning through images.Chapter IV:Summarize modern things symbols classified in chapter III as a model,and analyze the relationship between different levels in inner signs.Combine the method of structuralism binary,explain the meaning path of symbols of modern things in the movie,and explain that how symbols of modern things construct the image meaning.Conclusion:Summarize that modern things as a symbol in the movie is subsistent and meaningful,the same is the value of symbol study.
