On Tongcheng School’s Acceptance And Development Of HanYu’s Literary Theory

The Tongcheng School is summary of the ancient Chinese literary theories. TheTongcheng School’s theory is formed on the basis of learning the previous theories.Han Yu is the most important learning object for Tongcheng School. This thesis is onthe center of Han Yu’s and Tongcheng School’s theories, using several methods, suchas close reading, combination of history and literature method, case studying methodand comparative method. It analyzes the Tongcheng School’s acceptance of Han Yu’sliterary theory. Through analyzing the relationship between the Tongcheng School’stheory and Han Yu’s literary theory, we will know that the development process fromour comparison. It is a great significance to reveal the laws of development on ancientChinese theory of prose.The main part of this thesis is divided into the following sections:The first section analyzes the background of the Tongcheng School’s to acceptHan Yu’s literary theories. The Tongcheng School’s choosing to accept Han Yu’sliterary theory is because the needs of the times.The second section discusses the situation of the concept of Literature and Daowhich the Tongcheng School accepted and developed from Han Yu’s literary theory.The third section mainly discusses Han Yu’s and the Tongcheng School’stheories on "Wen and Qi". Liu Dakui and Fangbao are representatives of learning HanYu’s theories on "Wen and Qi".The forth section mainly describes the Tongcheng School’s acceptance anddevelopment of Han Yu’s style of theory.The last section mainly introduces the Tongcheng School’s contributions toacceptance and development of Han Yu’s style theories.In short, Han Yu’s literary theory is very important in the process of theTongcheng School’s birth and development, so it is quite meaningful for us to studytheir relationships.
