The Research Of Liu Kai

Liu kai is a prominent writer with outstanding creation personality and achievements in TongCheng Literature School. And the research of Liu kai is the key to the understanding of TongCheng Literature School. But now scholars haven’t given enough attention to him.This article, concerning his life experiences, academic ideology, literature theory and literary works, provides a more comprehensive and systematic study about Liu kai. This article is divided into seven chapters. Chapter I is a general introduction to Liu Kai’s character, life experiences and travel. Chapter Ⅱ introduces Liu Kai’s social connections with his master, his fellow friends, his officials friends and so on.The Chapter III discusses Liu Kai’s academic ideology. This chapter is devided into three parts. Part one is a brief introduction to Liu Kai’s main ideas. Part two focuses on Liu Kai’s ideas on education. This part will prove that the main concern of liu kai’s academic ideology is education, and demonstrate the relation between Liu Kai’s ideas on education and the tradition of "Songs enlightenment":"Songs enlightenment" is the orgin of Liu kai’s ideas on education. And Liu Kai’s ideas on education are the starting-point of his literature theory. Part three investigates Liu Kai’s attitude towards the controversy between Song Study and Han Study. Chapter IV deals with Liu Kai’s literature theory, including his theory on both poem and prose. Chapter V studies Liu Kai’s poems, especially the poems chanting the history and the ancient. The chapter VI concentrates on Liu Kai’s prose and prarallel-prose. This chapter will show that Liu Kai applied the writing method of prose to prarallel-prose.Chapter Ⅶ discusses the relationship between Liu Kai and TongCheng Literature School. Liu kai was both successor and betrayer of TongCheng Literature School. Liu Kai’s dual role exposes the inner contradictions of literature theory of TongCheng Literature School.
