At present, the research on Cihai is mainly concentrated on the publishing process,publishing task, the characteristics of every version and the questions raised by the content.But the articles about comparison study among all versions of Cihai are rarely.This thesis adopts the methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis, according to thetime sequence order, to study on the revision of Cihai1979edition,1989edition,1999edition,and2009edition. We analyze respectively from four aspects, which are explanatory notes,received words and interpretation. We describe the changes of revision, and make quantitativestatistics, thus get revision principles and methods. And then, we sum up the deficiencies ofrevision process, finding out the successful experience that we can use for reference indictionary compilation, in order to promote the development of lexicography.The thesis is divided into five chapters: the first chapter mainly introduces the significanceof the research, research materials, research thought, the methods of research and the relatedliterature review and research status.The chapterⅡmakes a comparative study on explanatory notes. This part makes a detailedcontrast from the aspects of the overall arrangement and the compilation of specific entries,aiming at the explanatory notes about the revision of Cihai1979edition,1989edition,1999edition, and2009edition. Then we make a summary and induction about the changes.The third chapter is a comparative study on received words. We choose the words in O, W,Z from each edition as the research object, making a contrast analysis. We mainly try to findchanges from the aspects of the principles of word receiving and the scope of word collection.The chapterⅣ is a contrastive study on interpretation. In this chapter, we choose W wordsin common as the research objects to study the changes of interpretation. It mainly includesthe types of the changes, the quantitative statistical analysis of these changes, the cause ofinterpretation changes, and the existing problems in the revision of interpretation.The fifth chapter is a conclusion, which summarizes the conclusions, the deficiency of theresearch and the space of our follow-up study.
