Humanity education, also known as quality education, is the topic of modern education, and art education should be the most important and immediate compulsory courses when humanity education is carried out. Art education in modern China is experiencing a major transitional period, and will be even greatly developed in the21st century. The study of the formation and contents of Feng-Mian Lin’s "Art up of society" theory on arts education in this article, will be a milestone of our practice of modern art education. Feng-Mian Lin, the well-known modern art educationist and exponent of modern painting, also the founder of China Academy of Art and one of spiritual leaders of China arts circle in twenties’century, is a faithful and devoted follower and practitioner of Yuan-Pei Cai’s thought of extensive fine arts. He devoted his whole life to absorbing and combining western culture and arts under the topic of China’s traditional culture, enriched and developed China’s culture and arts, especially on his life career of arts education renovation. He believed in "introducing western arts, coordinating Chinese art, integrating western and Chinese arts, and creating the arts of the time" as principle of his career, which was well accepted in the art world, and brought up several generations of genuine educationists and artists, which is a prominent contribution to China’s arts education. The historical contribution of this Chinese-western combined educationist training pattern is undoubted. The formation and evolvement of this new Chinese-western combined pattern, a combination of vicissitude and variance with traditional inheriting and innovation, is consistent with the development of modern art.This thesis covers the following four topics:1.
