In Skopostheorie, translation is defined as "a complex action designed to achieve a particular purpose," which takes place in a given situation and modifies the situation. Since tourism translation is a cross-cultural action of communication, it is necessary to find a cut-in between teleology and tourism translation. This paper discusses the application of teleology to the translation of scenic spot names in order to achieve its function of showing our scenic spots to the international tourist. More importantly, we can get implied Chinese culture across to them, and arouse their great interest in touring in China. Therefore, teleology must be taken as the first principle of controlling the whole translation process. The author classifies scenic spot names into four types:generic names, names that contain strong traditional culture, and names that express great aesthetic effects. According to the author, we can translate them by transliteration, transliteration and paraphrase, paraphrase and charging-up, and translate the meanings and the aesthetic effects of the names in the light of actual conditions respectively.
