Musical theater was born at the beginning of last century in Europe and America, and it came from the comic opera and operette, which derived from the Europe traditional opera. It also absorbed many other art mediums, such as the jazz music, the country music, the rock and roll, the rap, the modern dance and so on. It become a synthesized stage craft, which took the drama as the basis, the music as the domination, and the dance as an important expressing method. The musical theater has many singing styles, and it aimed to create the characters by the voice, to express the feeling and show the character’s inner life.Chinese drama is one of the important components of Chinese national culture, and has important status in the drama field all over the world, with which the Greece comic drama, the Buddhist play were regarded as the world three ancient dramas. The Yue opera, which originated from the Zhejiang village, has become one of the important Chinese dramas. Its singing form is influenced by many other types of drama, such as, the Beijing opera, Kun opera, Bangzi, and so on. Using the singing, dialogue, acting and acrobatics as the performing means, it has many drama fans in the south Chang Jiang river. The Yue drama has formed its own character, which expresses the feeling by the rhythm variations and ornaments. With the rapid development of musical theater project and original musical theater in China, the musical theater singing has become more and more important. The Chinese musical theater singing learns a lot from the Chinese traditional drama, for the Chinese musical theater is song and read in Chinese not English or other languages else. The musical theater in Europe and America is sung in English with syllable, which is one syllable one note. But the Chinese is character by four tones, so one word with many tones is very common. The drama pays attention to enunciation, many saying confirmed this, such as, singing with the word, sing with clear articulation and a mellow and full tone,(to zi gui yun shi san zhe)thirteen-line rhymes used for articulation practice, the five notes, four classes of syllables, four tones and so on. How can we blend the syllable Xingqiang of Chinese drama into the musical theater? If we find this, we can enter the door of Chinese original musical theater, and then form our own singing style.
