The great works Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights belong to English writersBronte sisters.Though those two love novels all choose the first person narration, thepatterns are definitely different.Through narrative Angle, narrative structure and narrative time,we can see thedifferences. Jane Eyre only has a center narrator who expresses her own commentssubjectively and freely and positively impact the readers. The single narrator Janeshapes only one fiction domain whose receivers are readers. The narrator Jane putsthe narrative starting at the start of the story, and then the story time and the narratetime become corresponding. With multiple narrators, Wuthering Heights thus formsthe more fictional domains, and the story structure becomes a lantern ringstructure. The first fictional narrator Lockwood and the second fictional narrator Naleystand at the edge of the story, and the narration of the story characters and the lettersconsist the third fictional domains. In addition, the receivers are also different. Thereceivers of the first fictional are ordinary readers, the second fictional is Lockwoodand the third fictional is Naley. With dual identity, the narrators and narrativereceivers cause displacement and produce complex aesthetic feeling. The narrator putsthe starting point at the middle of the story, and thus creates a kind of complexaesthetic feeling. The two different narrative modes cause two different situation. Because thesubjective and bold narration, Jane Eyre and Charlotte receive a great many of criticfrom some Victorian self-appointed guard.,and of course it gain a lot of readersbecause of its spirit of independence.Hiding behind the multiple narrative structuresWuthering Heights and Emily Bronte’s escape the critic at the time. But the narrativemode is not understood by the people at that time. Beside, it dose not have as manyreaders as Jane Eyre.As time goes by, Wuthering Heights’s narrative domain begins to be takenseriously. On the contrary, Jane Eyre’s natural narrative domain can not producecomplex characteristics and its closeness makes it increasingly dim. Wuthering Heights become the Sphinx of the literature. Critic from all the times are curiousabout it,and it is all because of the great narrative domain.
