In Recently years, Chinese education in Thailand has rapidly developped, especially in basic education. Until2008October. Chinese learners in primary and secondary school were approximately23,0000. primary and secondary schools found Chinese language curriculum were about650, of which491are public schools. The number has continued to grow.In2003, the Volunteer Chinese Teachers Program seted up by China as well as Thailand started. In the past9years, China has sent5600volunteers to Thailand, who undertook most of teaching works and has become the main force in Chinese teaching in Thai basic education.Volunteers are facing a series of problems in teaching work in Thailand, such as conscientiousness lacked, students’homework always unfinished,indistinct teaching goals, lack of unified syllabus, hard-to-maintain classroom order, teaching method can not attract the attention of students and so on. which followed with negative emotions of volunteers such as Incommensuration, incomprehension.frustration. anxiety, disappointment, confusion.etc.Through research and analysis, the author attributes causes of these problems to the differences of basic education between China and Thailand, more precisely to the volunteer teachers failed to understand present situation and characteristics of basic education in Thailand from the perspective of differences of elementary education in two countries.Therefore, the author research on the differences and their causes in basic education in China and Thailand, then try to find out the root causes for problems faced by volunteers, and puts forward practicable suggestions.This thesis contains6chapters.The first chapter includes an introduction to research background, research significance, research methods, writing ideas to the thesis and a brief description of basic education in china, basic education in thailand, differences of two basic educations, problems faced by volunteer teachers;The second chapter shows major differences in basic education in two countries and the differences on characteristics of second language education;The third chapter is brief analysis on causes for differences of two basic education;The forth chapter analyses volunteers’main problems;In the fifth chapter, according to problems and causes mentioned above, the author presents3suggestions about chinese teaching of volunteer teachers. The sixth chapter summarizes and reviews this paper, points out the defects of the study.and puts forward future research directions and corresponding proposals.Due to the distinctions in educational ideas and social cultural concepts, there are apparent differences between basic education in China and Thailand.As a result of these diversities,when Chinese volunteers first carry out Chinese teaching in Thailand,some situations that Thais take for granted make Chinese teachers puzzled since they can not be well adapted to the new environment. In addition,due to their incomplete understanding of the differences between the basic education in the two countries,volunteers are confronted with many problems in teaching management as well as teaching practice.For this reason,volunteers should get to know and understand the differences and get themselves adapted to the education environment in Thailand,thus further adjust teaching objectives,strategies and teaching methods and improve teaching effects based on characters of Thai students and basic education in Thailand.
