The town of Liuchen in Pingnan county is located in southeast Guangxi. The dialect has the underlying components of Pinghua and is influenced bycantonese. This thesis makes a detailed description of the phoneticfeatures, historical initial, historical stratum and lineage of Liuchen dialect;compares with Contonese and Pinghua in southern Guangxi. Thepreliminary conclusion is that Liuchen phonemes mettle is similarity ofPinghua in southern Guangxi. It is more appropriate to take it into Pinghuasystem. There are some phonetic features in Liuchen dialect:(1) When theancient muddy initials pronounce voiceless, plossive or affricative andplosive, most of the Pingsheng are aspirated and a few of them areunaspirated; while the Pingze is unaspirated in Pinghua in other place ofGuangxi.(2)"Jing" group (except "qing" initials), most of them are dentalfricative[θ]."Qing" initials are affricates [t]. Mr. Mai Yun believed thatplosive affricates and fricative[tθ]、[θ] existed in the bottom layer of theZhuang and Dong in ancient Baiyue language. Nowdays,"jing" group areaffected by affricates if they are pronounced as "duan" group [t]、[t]. Thekeep the features of ancient Baiyue language if the are pronounced asfricative[θ]. They are fricative is they are pronounced as plosive,fricative[tθ].(3) There exist glottal initals [] in Liuchen dialect.Theydistributed in "ri" initals,"xi" initals,"xiao" initals,"ying" initals,"yun"initals,"yi" initals. The place of articulation of these initials are in areall backward. I support Mr. Chen Zhongmin’s view that anient turbiditytinitals [d] is the underlying form of ancient Baiyue.[] is the voiceless of[d].(4)"Guo"finals retentate the ancient pronunciation [ai]and [i]. Someof "Zhi" finals pronounce [i], The confluence of "Guo" finals and "zhi"finals reflects the ancient pronunciation.(5) There are twelve tones inLiucheng dialect. Among them, eight are stretch tone, and four are shorttones. Tone classes are influenced by the voiced or voiceless."Ru" initials are influenced mainly by the length of vowels. These special languagephenomenon can reflect that Liuchen dialect are still retain some features ofancient Baiyue language.
