The Chinese art of calligraphy is the land of China, a native national traditional art.It always embodies Chinese characteristics and style, and contains the spirit oftraditional Chinese culture. Therefore, traditional Chinese art of calligraphy as alearning bridge for communication, the use of calligraphy means of teaching guide forforeign students learning Chinese characters.Chinese characters is an important part of learning Chinese, foreign students ofChinese characters with weak literacy impact on raising level of Chinese seriously.Calligraphy teaching for foreign students, it should be more emphasis on calligraphyand Chinese characters, the calligraphy lesson teaching should take into account thefeatures of Chinese characters, Chinese characters systematically selecting, effectiveand orderly to guide students to practice calligraphy.As China’s overall national strength, more and more foreign friends are concernedabout China, and vice versa. Order to better promote the China’s development of thecause of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, make more foreigners to learn Chinesecharacters, a deeper understanding of the essence of Chinese culture, this paper putsforward the traditional Chinese art of calligraphy as a learning exchange bridge, usingthe calligraphy teaching means to guide foreign students learning Chinese characters.Since entering the new century, introduced in the field of TCFL teaching ofcalligraphy, the traditional culture of ethnic characteristics to the world aspects havebeen some successes. Also facing some problems to be solved: the scarcity ofprofessional teachers, low quality of the teaching material, fuzzy goal of teachingsettings, backward calligraphy education system, and there are the reasons of leadingthe bad result that the Chinese calligraphy teaching in TCFL. The way to solve theabove problems: to improve the quality of foreign calligraphy teacher, to optimize thequality of foreign calligraphy textbook, to clear foreign calligraphy teaching objectives,to enrich the teaching style, focus on improving the students’ cultural literacy.The basic principle is to improve the learning effectiveness of calligraphy in TCFL:cultivate an interest, attention to the cultivation of comprehensive cultural quality andcharacter, independent teaching of the early Chinese characters, Chinese characterssound and meaning is shaped combination, combination of words, adhere to the writingmemorizing Chinese characters. Specific methods of TCFL in Chinese calligraphyteaching: Teaching Chinese Characters combined with calligraphy teaching; with a softbrush calligraphy combined with Pen Calligraphy; calligraphy theory combined withtraining; learning calligraphy combined with the use of calligraphy.
