Gaoche, a nomadic group, is active in the northern and northwestern parts in Wei, Jin and Nanbei Dynasties and established Gaoche Kingdom in the front part of Cheshi (the present Jiao River and Gu City in Tulufan, Xinjiang). Gaoche had a profound influence on the kingdom in the plate part, the south and north part of the desert, and the western part. Based on former researches and previous documentary, the proposed research tries to provide an overall and systemic elaboration of relationship between Gaoche and Tuoba, Xianbei, Rouran and Western parts with the purpose of making an outline of historic Gaoche relationship in Wei, Jin and Nanbei Dynasties.First of all, the proposed research has a discussion of the relationship between Gaoche and Xianbei. Tuoba and Xianbei set out wars against Gaoche for nine times and a great amount of people and herds were captured and put in the southern part of the desert. Gaoche fought against the Tuoba noble from time to time. The northern part Gaoche were conquered by Rouran. Gaoche people established Gaoche Kingdom in the front part of Cheshi (the present Jiao River and Gu City in Tulufan, Xinjiang) when Rouran became weak, for they cannot bear the torture of Rouran.Second, the proposed research has an analysis of the relationship between Gaoche and Rouran. Fufuluo branch of Gaoche getting rid of Rouran and established Gaoche Kingdom in487AD is a sign of new characteristics of the relationship between Gaoche and Rouran. The slaving and slaved relationship changed into two powers chasing for people and fortune for their own sake. Finally, the proposed research has a discussion of the relationship between Gaoche and the western part. The rise of Gaoche changed the situation between Rouran and North Wei. The continuous wars led to the fall off of Gaoche and was conquered by Rouran Kingdom. This exploration of relationships between Gaoche and other ethnic groups not only benefit the analysis of history of northern nomadic groups, but also helps the study the develop and evolve rules of the stages of these groups, as well as the understanding of the contribution of these groups in China history.
