The innovative city has become the one of the important strategyof Chinas building the innovative country. At the end of2010, theYangpu District, the Haidian District, the Binhai New Area and theShapingba District had became the first nationally designatedinnovative urban districts. In these four districts, R&D industry hasreached a considerable size with the abundant intelligent resourcesand the strong bases of industry. And therefore, the research of theinfluencing factor and character of the R&D industry’s agglomeration ininnovative urban districts has a very practical significance. This paper is supported by my tutor’s National Natural ScienceFoundation(40971068)“Research of R&D Industry’s Spatial Evolution andMechanism”, the Scientific Research Innovation Project of ShanghaiEducation Commission(09YZl74),“Research of Skill Diffusion’sMechanism of Foreign R&D Industry”. This thesis uses the theories ofeconomic geography as guidance, involving normative and empiricalstudies, qualitative and quantitative analysis with relevant literature andstatistical data. Around the main line of R&D industry “developingstatus”,“agglomeration and the influencing factors” and “model ofagglomeration”, this paper discusses the R&D industry’s spatialagglomeration’s character and the model of the innovative urbandistricts. It contains four parts, of which the third and fourth ones are thecore parts: the first part is chapter1and chapter2, which mainlydefines and explains the concepts of innovative city and R&D industrybased on the Predecessors theories; The second part is chapter3,which describes the developing status of R&D industry focusing on R&Dstaff, R&D expense and R&D achievements. The Third part is chapter4,and firstly, which uses the enterprise list as data sources from the yellow page network” www.11467.com”. Secondly, it classifies the enterprisesby the postcode, and at last, imports these postcodes into “Mainfo9.5”to orient the agglomeration regions. During the discussing theinfluencing factors, this paper uses the macroscopic and microscopicviews to analyze. The last part is chapter5, and it draw a conclusion offour models for the innovative urban districts on the basis of the previousparts. The innovation of this thesis lies on: firstly, using the postcode toclassify and orient the data is not only simplifying the work, but canclearly express the agglomeration region. Secondly, this paperintroduces the micro way of thinking during the analysis of influencingfactors of agglomeration. Thirdly, this paper presents the four models forthe agglomeration of R&D industry in the four innovative urban districtsbased on general models of industry agglomeration and the status ofthese four urban districts.
