A Research Of The Media Image Of The Confucius Institutes In<the People’s Daily>

This dissertation selected reports about the confucius institutes from July6th2006(the first Confucius institute conference was held) to December14th2011(the sixth Confucius institute conference ended) in the People’s Daily which is the most representative mainstream media in domestic as the research object, described and analyzed it with content analysis. Tried to conclude the Confucius institutes’ media image and evaluate it simply,finally tried to find out the reasons for this phenomenon.The research is divided into four parts, The first part includes the background of this research and the research method as well as the literature review; The second part introduces the related theories; The third part is the description and analysis of the collected reports; The last part is the evaluation of analysis and the reasons discussion.In this paper’s opinion, the People’s Daily had both advantages and defects on the media image shaping of the Confucius institutes. The reasons for this phenomenon would be explored by the literature analysis method.Because of the limitation of my theoretical level, there will be omissions in the analysis above unavoidably. However I hope this research can play a role on the subsequent research.
