The international communication of Chinese plays an important role in shaping China's national image.Confucius institutes are the main institutions for international promotion of Chinese language.Their purpose is to spread Chinese culture and promote national image.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the Chinese image cognition of Confucius institute learners.Since its establishment in the rok 15 years ago,Confucius institutes have been dedicated to providing Chinese language teaching services to Korean learners and enhancing overseas people's understanding of China.Promoting Chinese culture through Confucius institutes will contribute to cultural exchanges between China and other countries,help people around the world to know China,establish a good national image,and enhance China's soft power.Taking Confucius institute of Hankuk university of foreign studies as an example and combining with the author's internship experience,this paper explores the status quo of Chinese image cognition of learners through questionnaire survey and case interview,and analyzes its influencing factors and the role of Confucius institute in this process.The introduction discusses the importance of building a national image and its relevance to the international communication of Chinese.The second chapter describes the survey design and interview ideas in detail.The third chapter is the analysis and statistics of the questionnaire results.This part focuses on the cognition of Confucius institute learners on China's economy,culture,Chinese language,Confucius institute,etc.,and makes statistics on the "Chinese first associational words" of the objects of the survey.Finally,according to the survey results,the channel sources of Chinese information for learners are analyzed.Chapter four is the case study of learners.In this chapter,a representative representative of the respondents was selected for in-depth interview,and their cognitive development process and cognitive characteristics were summarized.In the last chapter,the author puts forward Suggestions and countermeasures for the future development of Confucius institutes in South Korea based on the survey results above.The result of research shows that:Chinese learners' image of China is mainly positive,economic and cultural image is the highest,national image in the middle,and finally product and government image.Combined with the research purpose of this paper,two additional reference dimensions--Chinese image and Confucius institute image are added,both of which are generally highly evaluated.The majority of Confucius institute Chinese learners are economically driven.At the same time,through case interviews,it is found that Confucius institutes are an important channel for learners to obtain Chinese information,and teachers of Confucius institutes can promote learners' Chinese image cognition.Finally,the author believes that attention should be paid to the level and depth of cultural communication content of Confucius institutes,combined with the characteristics of Korean Chinese learners,enrich the forms of cultural activities,and establish the brand image of Confucius institutes.
