Along with development of market economy and depth of reform and opening up, various kinds of foreign economic activities increase every day. Among frequent cooperation with foreign businessmen, drafting, negotiating, and signing various business contracts become the essential part and translation, which can be compared to a bridge, plays a vital role in it. As far as business contract structure is considered, provision constitutes the main body and grasp of it concerns understanding of the whole contract. Anyway, we are still persistently searching for a proper theory to guide business contract provision translation. This thesis tries to combine business contract provision translation with skopos theory. By adopting a top-down research method emphasized by skopos theory, the thesis will combine macro level with micro level, i.e., on the basis of skopos theory, analysis and translation of business contract provision are carried out on lexical, syntactic and textual level respectively with the purpose of finding proper methods to improve their translation quality. In skopos theory, its three rules have some instructive function on translation of repetitive words, itemized sentences and business contract provision text.At last, this thesis will come to following conclusions:under the direction of skopos theory and certain relevant principles, communicative translation method should be put as a prime method for textual translation; when dealing with syntactic translation, ordering, reversing, embedding, cutting, recasting, synthetic translation methods are proper; while managing word translation, parts of speech, collocation, connotation, style, grammar of words and other factors should be taken into consideration in hope of perfecting business contract translation so as to achieve their communicative purpose.
