Nowadays, with the rapid development of international business and trade, there is a growing demand for E-C translation of business contracts.A high-quality of E-C translation of business contracts facilitates trade and benefits contracting parties. However,it is difficult to achieve a high-quality translation of such contracts since the distinctive linguistic features of English business contracts often bring problems to translation.Given this,it is necessary to study the problems in the E-C translation of business contracts and propose solutions to improve the E-C translation of such contracts. Many scholars have taken a closer look at the E-C translation of business contracts, and from different perspectives, they propose translation strategies, methods, techniques, principles or criteria. However, few scholars have recommended specific solutions under the guidance of Skopos Theory to address the problems that occur in the E-C translation of business contracts.Choosing English business contracts as the object of study, the author covers the problems that she encounters at different levels. At lexical level, the problems include inaccuracy and lack of equivalence in translating legal terms and difficulty in choosing meanings. At syntactic level, the problems include inconsistency with conventional expressions and unparalleled structures.Further, the author explores the causes of these problems. Then under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the author proposes corresponding solutions to resolve the problems above.Specifically,at lexical level, literal translation, paraphrase, and omission are recommended;at syntactic level, shift into non-subject sentence, voice shift, translating in reverse order and division are suggested.
